Die siebte Jahressitzung der Deutsch-Indischen Arbeitsgruppe Qualitätsinfrastruktur fand am 16. und 17. Januar 2020 in Neu-Delhi statt.

The Indo-German discussion paper “Securing the Internet of Things Together” was released at the 7th Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure on 16 January 2020 in New Delhi. The discussion paper was developed by the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) in cooperation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI).

A delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) participated in the 6th National Standards Conclave organised by the Department of Commerce (DoC) of the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 15 and 16 January 2020 in New Delhi. The conference is India’s flagship event on standardisation, technical regulation, conformity assessment, and market surveillance.

Trade and technologies are not limited to regional and national boundaries. International standards can facilitate global trade and the spread of new technologies by effectively removing technical barriers to trade. This helps to create new market opportunities and promotes economic growth.

In November 2019, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry has published several new draft Quality Control Orders (QCOs). QCOs are issued by Indian regulators to introduce technical regulations such as mandatory certification requirements based on Indian standards.

More than 30 representatives from industry associations and companies, standardisation bodies, and subordinate government organisations came together on 15 November to discuss next year’s topics and priorities for the Indo-German cooperation on quality infrastructure. The meeting at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) in Berlin took place in preparation of the 7th Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure on 16 and 17 January 2020 in New Delhi.
