The Ministry of Economy (SE) has published a preliminary draft of some further modifications to the rules and criteria of foreign trade. The draft states among other changes that the sectorial promotion program (PROSEC in Spanish) would be cancelled.

On October 10, the Second Annual Working Group Meeting of the German-Mexican Dialogue on Quality Infrastructure was held in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, where the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Mexican Ministry of Economics (Secretaría de Economía, SE) signed the work plan for 2019/2020 and agreed on their further cooperation in the areas of standardization, accreditation and conformity assessment as well as product safety and market surveillance.

 

On August 23 the Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) presented a comprehensive reform of the existing Law on Metrology and Standardization in Mexico City in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Dr. Graciela Márquez Colín, entitled “Law on Quality Infrastructure”.

On 15 August, the Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) invited representatives from ministries, government agencies, business associations and QI institutions to prepare the annual meeting of the German-Mexican Working Group on Quality Infrastructure.

On 3 June 2019, a decree was taking effect that affects import procedures to Mexico for various products. As part of these regulatory changes, a so-called “declaration of non-commercialization”, by which goods not meant for commercialization could be imported without being compliant with Mexican technical regulations, has lost validity.

During the week of May 6-10, a Delegation of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), led by Mr. Helge Engelhard, Deputy Director General for Digital policy and Innovation, visited Mexico in the context of the German-Mexican Dialogue on Quality Infrastructure.
