On the occasion of the Hannover Messe trade show for industrial technology, an Indian government delegation headed by Secretary Dr A. R. Sihag of the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) visited Germany from 2 - 5 April 2019. The Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) supported DHI’s visit to Germany.

Easing Business for Indian Companies in Germany through New “Fast-Track” Mechanism
On 1 April 2019, the Indian Ambassador to Germany, Ms Mukta D. Tomar, signed a “fast-track” agreement with State Secretary Mr Christian Hirte of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The agreement intends to ease investments and doing business for Indian companies in Germany.

India Delays Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment to 1 August 2019
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Indian Ministry of Communications issued a notification on 12 March 2019 to extend the enforcement date of the mandatory testing and certification of telecommunications equipment (MTCTE) to 1 August 2019.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) launched a website that allows viewing Indian Standards, which are made mandatory through Quality Control Orders (QCOs), free of cost.

Regulatory Outlook: Products Considered for Mandatory BIS Certification in India
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) informed about a range of products for which a future mandatory certification is currently under process in India. In addition to being India’s national standards body, the BIS is also responsible for several voluntary and mandatory certification schemes.
